Kiwi Illafonte is a Los Angeles raised, Bay Area chiseled hip hop artist currently living in Tiotia: ke, unceded Kanien’kéhá:ka (Mohawk) and Algonquin territories (also known as Montreal, Quebec). He is most known as part of renowned hip hop group Native Guns (with Bambu and DJ Phatrick), as well as the lead vocalist for Oakland funky hip hop soul band Mass Bass. He has been recording and performing for over 15 years, sharing the stage with artists such as Las Cafeteras, Blue Scholars, Macklemore, and Immortal Technique. Kiwi is also a graphic designer by trade, a volunteer with the Asian Prisoner Support Committee, and an organizer with the Centre for Philippine Concerns. His music reflects the struggles of being a brown, working class person in diaspora, and the rising up of everyday folks out of oppression and exploitation.
